Step-by-Step Instructions for Mounting Your Sign

At Identity Signs, we want your sign installation to be as smooth as possible. Whether you're mounting a sleek plaque, a directional sign, or custom interior signage, we've got you covered with easy-to-follow install videos and guides for our three most popular methods that we sell.

1. Barrel and Cap Mounts (Gyford Style)

Best for: Premium wall displays, standoffs, dimensional signs

Overview:
This method uses aluminum barrels and caps (commonly known as Gyford mounts) to create a professional, offset appearance that "floats" the sign off the wall. Perfect for acrylic or metal panels.

Installation Highlights:

• Drill holes in both the sign panel and wall surface

• Anchor barrels to the wall using screws and wall plugs (if needed)

• Slide the sign onto the barrel posts and secure with the caps

• Maintain even spacing and alignment for a clean finish

Tools Needed:

• Level

• Drill

• Wall anchors (for drywall)

• Measuring tape

• Screwdriver

Pro Tip: Use a paper template with pre-marked holes to ensure exact placement before drilling.

2. Z-Clip Mounting (French Cleat Style)

Best for: Heavier signs or when you want a hidden mount that’s easy to remove and reinstall

Overview:
Z-Clips (also known as French cleats) involve interlocking aluminum brackets: one attaches to the wall, the other to the back of the sign. Once mounted, they snap together to hold your sign securely and flush.

Installation Highlights:

• Secure the wall-side clip level and centered

• Attach the matching clip to the back of the sign

• Slide the sign down into place until it clicks

• Wall anchors (as needed)

• Screwdriver

• Measuring tape

Pro Tip: Double-check horizontal alignment before mounting—Z-Clips don’t allow for much adjustment after install.

3. Double-Sided Tape Mounts

Best for: Lightweight plaques, door signs, and temporary displays

Overview:
A clean and simple solution that skips the hardware. Industrial-strength double-sided tape is pre-applied to the sign, ready to peel and stick.

Installation Highlights:

• Clean the wall surface thoroughly (dust and oils reduce adhesion)

• Peel off the tape backing

• Press the sign firmly against the surface for at least 30 seconds

• Cleaning supplies (alcohol wipes or a lint-free cloth with mild cleaner)

Pro Tip: Use a level or painter’s tape guide line before placing—once the tape sticks, it’s hard to adjust.
